As a rule, I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions. To me, that’s saying ‘You didn’t do so good last year, so make sure you resolve to do better this year’. I simply highlight the good stuff, learn from my experiences and continue to forge a path of what’s possible moving forward.
I have a greeting card that someone once gave me, and it sits in my bedroom. Every now and then I try and stop and allow myself the 30 seconds it takes to read it. On the first day of this year as we arise to all the possibilities of 2013, I commit myself to the words on it below and hope you find something in them too.
Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.
Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others.
Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you!
– Christian D. Larson
Happy 2013 everyone.
